What to say to a child who has been sexually abused

This is a horrible situation for anyone to be in, but it’s important to respond in the way that’s best for the child. Today I share with you the things that I wish had been made clear to me the first time I ever told someone.

Having been abused by my father throughout my childhood, the first person I told was my mum. I was staying with her over the Christmas holidays and one evening it all came out (I will do a detailed video about my disclosure another day). These are the things I needed to hear.

Please let me know your thoughts and if there’s anything I missed. As always, I speak from my own experience only, and feel I’ve covered the crucial points. Thank you for watching 🙂
